Snip

Grab a piece of the screen.

Drag a box over anything: a colour you need to match, a reference photo, a line of a spec. The crop pins itself exactly where you grabbed it and floats above the app underneath.

Paste

Or just paste what you already copied.

Ctrl+V drops clipboard images straight onto the board. Copied files, screenshots from anywhere and plain text all land as pins, transparency included.

Floating notes

Type a reminder to yourself anywhere on screen. Drag a border to re-wrap the text, and set the font, fill and outline colours with their own opacity.

Read the words out of any picture.

Select a pinned image, press To text, and the words inside it come back as an editable note. It uses the OCR built into Windows, so nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Three steps, no installer.

  1. Download the zip

    Inside is one 58 KB executable and a readme. That is the whole program.

  2. Unzip it anywhere

    Your desktop, a tools folder, a USB stick. It does not care where it lives.

  3. Run StickyShots.exe

    Windows may warn about an unknown publisher. Click More info, then Run anyway. The bar appears at the top of your screen.

Questions people ask.

Windows says it protected my PC. Is this safe?

That is SmartScreen reacting to an unsigned free tool it has not seen before, not a virus warning. Click More info, then Run anyway. StickyShots runs completely offline: no accounts, no tracking, no network access at all.

Does it float over games?

Over windowed and borderless-fullscreen games, yes. Exclusive-fullscreen games bypass the Windows compositor and will cover the board, so switch the game to borderless if you want references on top.

Are my boards saved when I close it?

Not yet. The board lives as long as the app is running, so leave it open while you work. Saving and loading boards is planned.

What languages can the OCR read?

It uses the OCR that ships inside Windows, so it reads whatever language packs you have installed. English works out of the box, and you can add others in Windows language settings.

How do I uninstall it?

Quit with the close button on the bar and delete the exe. It installs no services, writes no registry entries and leaves nothing behind.
